Monday April 28, 2003, wow. We start the walk in just 2 weeks. I can hardly believe it. I'll be walking in Edinboro, Pa. Today is sunny and finally warm. Saturday when I went out the bright sunshine was a fooler. The air was cold and I was in layers under a sweat and my blue medium weight windbreaker. Plus tights under sweat pants. Brrrr.

At ten miles a day I will be in Erie area May 13-14; Chautauqau Saturday May 17th and Buffalo, Thursday May 22nd. Then I am on my own for the holiday weekend because the RV'ers had an event already scheduled. A family medical attention may change my plans for that weekend but I will let you know when we know.

Afua Sanders, the incredible web mistress and my daughter, Teci Baldwin are working on some nice changes to the web site CHECK IT OUT:

I put a story that I wrote and had published years ago on the web page it is called EVERYONE CALLED IT THE OLD LOT. It is one my favorite pieces from my memoir. And I am actually writing (beginning to pick at a first draft) THE BOOK! (on this walk) and >have gotten a lovely reception as I've read a few paragraphs from it at CWRU Senior Scholars brown bag lunch, last week and at the Ursuline all day event last month. It is scary-fun to risk reading from someting you are still shaping and working on. Yesterday, I was honored (actually we, the ancestors and I) by the National Assoc. of Negro Business and Professional Women's Clubs Inc. with the Sojourner Truth Award at a wonderful breakfast at the Hilton East. Isn't that amazingly perfect. Sojourner is their matriarch. She has always been one of my heroes. I've tried to send the flyer for the Jubilee in St. Catharines on May 31st. Working at it all morning and first the server and then my silly machine keeps swallowing this email whole. One more try.
