Email from Ashtabula, OH

Hello IN THEIR PATH! Supporters,

Here I am running late again. I have been right next door at the wonderful museum The Hubbard House in Ashtabula and did not know that it was just across the parking lot.

So where to quickly start. On Tuesday the weather was gorgeous but way to hot and humid so the first day of walking I suffered. My hips hurt, my knees hurt I had a sore, sore toe and without admitting it to Petra, my walking companion, I thought I might not make it I was in pain. Then the magical Petra the physical therapist and all knowing friend said, "What you need to do is get into a cold, icy cold tub of water" I needed a comforting HOT bath and cold sounded awful. BUT it worked, it was not easy but it was a cure and the next day all pain was gone and on top of that the weather was still beautiful and the humidity was gone and it was cooler.

Our host on Tuesday was the Andrew School for Girls we had a delicious dinner; pecan encrusted salmon and I gave a talk to all of these incredible young women after dinner. This school has boarding students from all over the world. Korea, Mexico, Rwanda it is so nice to meet these smart young women.

The big surprise is that there are so many UGRR sites on the trail. and we have been lucky enough to be given tours on several sites that were just along the way.

The library is closing and we have to shut down the computers. I will continue next time.

Love Joan E.
